Tik Tok’s Tomato Feta Pasta

Advertisements

Over the weekend, I was walking through my local Whole Foods, trying to decide what I wanted to make for dinner. On a whim, I decided to try a recipe I had been seeing all over Tik Tok for a tomato and feta pasta. I wasn’t even sure how much I really liked feta, I rarely eat it and I had never actually bought any. But so many people had been raving over this dish, I said what the heck. So, I bought some grape tomatoes and some feta and headed home to try my hand at this delicious looking dish.

When I got home and finished putting away my stuff, I searched through my Tik Tok to find the original recipe. The first person I saw post it was @feelgoodfoodie and the video has over 8 million views on Tik Tok. Once I had all the info and my ingredients out and ready to go, I began cooking.

I preheated my oven to 400, put grape tomatoes in a baking dish, covered them with olive oil, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, sprinkled my container of feta on top and mixed everything together. When the oven was ready, I put my baking dish on the middle rack and let it cook for 35 minutes. When I took it out of the oven, I mixed the tomatoes and feta around then added my minced garlic and arugula. The Tik Tok recipe says to use basil but I don’t really like basil. Arugula seemed like it would be better for the dish anyway.

When there was about 15 minutes left of baking time, I started working on my pasta. I filled a pot with water, sprinkled in some salt, covered it and left it to boil while I picked out which pasta I wanted to use. This is always a very tough decision. I ended up choosing Fusilli because I thought the sauce would stick nicely to the spiral shape, and I was definitely correct.

I could hardly wait to try this, once everything was mixed together. It was amazing. I would have never thought to make a pasta dish like this, so thank you Tik Tok for bringing this deliciousness into my life. The only thing I thought should be different is that it was missing like a crunchy element. So, with my left overs, I chopped up some cooked bacon and mixed it in. This literally made it one of the best things I have ever eaten. I am looking forward to the next time I get to cook and eat this!

Ingredients

1 container of cherry or grape tomatoes

1 block of feta (I just used a container of crumbled feta and thought it turned out the same)

2 handfuls of arugula (adjust to your prefence)

1 cup of pasta, cooked

2 cloves of garlic minced

1/2 lb bacon, cooked and chopped

olive oil

salt, pepper, crushed red pepper

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 F. In a baking dish, combine tomatoes, olive oil, salt, pepper. The place the feta block in the center. Put this in the oven for 35 minutes.
  2. In a pot, bring salted water to a boil. Once boiling add your pasta of choice and let it cook. Strain once cooked.
  3. Once the tomatoes and feta are out of the oven, mix in the garlic, bacon and crushed red pepper. Then add the pasta to the mixture. Finally, add in the arugula and mix together. Put in a dish for serving and enjoy!
